How can we get more people to come to our meetings?

Friends of Greenvale Local Nature Reserve 2010 is a group of volunteers working to protect the flora and fauna of the area and hoping to gain enough support from local residents of Stockton-on-Tees to apply for funding to improve the children's play area on the site and, perhaps, provide a bowling green for adults to enjoy. Over the summer we have enlisted 40 new members but only a couple of them came to our meeting on 23rd Sept 2010. How can we attract more because without support we are powerless.
